What's a Trunk Show?

A yarn shop trunk show can mean a couple of different things, but both options are a fun way to check out new yarns.

  1. One option is when a yarn company or designer sends a box — a trunk — filled with knitted samples. The garments are typically in the shop for at least 10 days and sometimes as long as 2 weeks. The shop then displays them, providing inspiration for projects and yarns to use.
  2. Another type of trunk show is when a yarn company visits the shop in person. This is more typical with small, indie yarn companies. The yarn company brings their yarns in multiple colors for customers to look at and purchase. Customers are able to ask questions and speak directly with the yarn company, and oftentimes the owner/yarn dyer.

4:00 - 7:00pm

Michelle, from Kettle & Hearth Fibers, will be at the Fiber Lab during our regular knit and crochet night. She will be showcasing an assortment of her beautiful yarns, which are hand-dyed just down the road in Mondovi. Choose from luscious merino wool (both superwash and non-superwash), superwash Bluefaced Leicester, and an alpaca/silk blend in lace, fingering or DK weights. Check out the Kettle & Hearth website for a preview of colors and yarns.

I hope you can join us for a fun evening!
