Knitting 101: Learn to Knit
If you've ever wanted to learn to knit, this is your chance! No experience needed. You will learn how to cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and bind off. Don't know what these terms even mean? That's okay, we'll be covering that, too. By the end of this three-session class you'll have a cozy scarf to show off your new skills. Scarf pattern included with registration.
The class consists of three 2 hour sessions.
Children 9+ may enroll with an accompanying adult.
Skills you will learn in this class:
- Reading a pattern
- Casting on
- Knit stitch
- Purl stitch
- Binding off
- Weaving in ends
Supplies Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (Approximately 400 yards)
- Avoid dark colors, yarns with too much textures or lots of color changes
- US size 7/4.5mm knitting needles (wood or bamboo works well for beginners)
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
Stop in early to choose your yarn and any other supplies you need. The Fiber Lab offers a 10% discount on class supplies.
Register early. Classes with fewer than 2 registrations, 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of class will be canceled. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled, and the registration fee will be refunded.

Instructor Bio: | Kris has been knitting since she was 8 years old. Not satisfied with the potholders that her local 4-H club limited her to, she dove into mittens. She believes that knitting is about the process, which teaches patience. |
