Knitting 102: Make a Hat
You've got the basics of knitting figured out. You know how to cast on, knit, and purl. Time to expand your skills by creating a hat that is knit in the round. We'll also discuss gauge, how decrease stitches, and read a pattern. We will be working on the Marin hat. A printed copy will be provided at the first class session. If you wish to download it ahead of time, you may do so for free on Ravelry.com
The class consists of three 2 hour sessions.
Children 9+ may enroll with an accompanying adult.
Skills you will learn in this class:
- Creating a gauge swatch
- Knitting in the round
- Decrease stitches
Supplies Needed:
- Worsted weight yarn (160 - 180 yards)
- US 6/4mm 16” circular needle
- US 8/5mm 16” circular needle
- US 8/5mm double point needles or US 8/5mm 32" circular needle
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- (Optional) Pom pom
Stop in early to choose your yarn and any other supplies you need. The Fiber Lab offers a 10% discount on class supplies.
Register early. Classes with fewer than 2 registrations, 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of class will be canceled. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled, and the registration fee will be refunded.
