Stranded Two-Color Knitting

If you would like to learn how to work create beautiful garments using a two-color stranded technique, also known as fair isle, or want a refresher, this is the class for you. You can choose to work on either a hat or a cowl. These items are perfect for cooler weather. Make one for yourself, and once you've mastered the techniques, create handmade gifts for your friends and family.
Skills you will learn in this class:
- Fair isle techniques including how to carry yarn, change colors, and work with floats
- Basic chart reading
- Importance of tension
- Weaving in ends as you go
Supplies Needed (Snøfrost Hat):
- Snøfrost Hat pattern. You will need to purchase this pattern prior to class. It is available at the shop or via Ravelry.
- Two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn
- Main color: Approximately 145 yards
- Contrasting color: Approximately 70 yards
- US 3/3.25mm 16” circular needle
- US 4/3.5mm 16” circular needle
- US 4/3.55mm double point needles (optional, but recommended)
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- (Optional) Pom pom
Supplies Needed (Hygge Holidays Cowl):
- Hygge Holidays Cowl pattern is available for free on Ravelry.
- Two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn
- Main color: Approximately 150 yards
- Contrasting color: Approximately 100 yards
- US 7/4.5mm 24” circular needle
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
Stop in early to choose your yarn and any other supplies you need. The Fiber Lab offers a 10% discount on class supplies.
Register early. Classes with fewer than 2 registrations, 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of class will be canceled. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled, and the registration fee will be refunded.
