Crochet 101: Learn the Basics
Crochet has become popular in recent years. If you've ever wanted to learn how, this is your chance! No experience needed. You will learn how to create a chain stitch, single and double crochet stitches. You'll also have the option to learn half-double and triple crochet to create cute little decorative flowers.
It's okay if these terms don't mean anything to you now. We'll be covering all these things and more. By the end of this two-session class you'll have a functional and fantastic drawstring bag to show off your new skills. Bag pattern included with registration fee and will be handed out during the first class session.
The class consists of two 2-hour sessions.
Children 9+ may enroll with an accompanying adult.
Skills you will learn in this class:
- Reading a pattern
- Single crochet
- Double crochet
- Working in the round
- Weaving in ends
Supplies Needed:
- 1 skein of yarn (DK or Worsted weight). Yarn weight will affect the final size of the bag.
- Optional second color yarn for decorative flowers
- 3.75mm or 4mm crochet hook (Select your hook after you've determined your yarn)
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Stop in early to choose your yarn and any other supplies you need. The Fiber Lab offers a 10% discount on class supplies.
Register early. Classes with fewer than 3 registrations, 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of class will be canceled. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled, and the registration fee will be refunded.

Instructor Bio: | Brinna has studied apparel design and photography at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She is an avid and experienced crocheter and knitter, as well as a quilter and sewist. |
