Pot Holder for All Seasons - Sunny Side Up, Lamb Chops, or Riblets



Join the Fiber Lab each month to create fun and easy seasonal pot holders. Sign up for one, sign up for all of them, or for as many of the classes as you'd like. These classes are designed to be enjoyable whether you're a beginner or an expert.

Sunny Side Up, Lamb Chops, or Riblets

March is the season for baby farm animals, so choose from three whimsical barnyard critters. All three pot holders use the same body shape, but come to life through the use of different colors and appliqués.

  • Finished Size: 8" x 8-3/4"
  • Templates needed for the pot holder will be provided so you don't need to cut them out of your copy.
  • Buttons for eyes and noses will be provided

Materials Needed for All Pot Holders:

  • All classes will be using the book Pot Holders for All Seasons by Chris Malone. Available at the shop.
  • 1 (9" x 9-3/4") piece of insulated batting, such as InsulBright 
  • 1 (8-1/2") square cotton batting
  • Fusible web with paper release, such as Steam-a-Seam

Materials Needed for Sunny Side Up (Chicken):

  • Various scraps for wings, beak, feet, and comb
  • 1 fat quarter of fabric for front and back of body
  • Pieces of cotton batting cut to the following sizes: 9" x 9-3/4", 5" x 11, and 3" x 10"

Materials Needed for Lamb Chops (Sheep):

  • Various scraps for the face, top of head, feet, and ears
  • 1 fat quarter of fabric for front and back of body 
  • Pieces of cotton batting cut to the following sizes: 9" x 9-3/4" and 4" x 10"

Materials Needed for Riblets (Pig):

  • Various scraps for face, ears, snout, and feet
  • 1 fat quarter of fabric for the front and back of body
  • 1 rectangle of cotton batting cut 9" x 9-3/4"

Additional Supplies:

  • Walking foot
  • Marking pen or pencil
  • Matching Thread
  • Scissors
  • Pins or sewing clips
  • Rotary cutter
  • Cutting Mat
  • Ruler

Note: You must bring your own sewing machine. It is also recommended to bring a walking foot. 

Stop in early to choose your fabrics and get and any other supplies you may need. The Fiber Lab offers a 10% discount on class supplies.

Register early. Classes with fewer than 3 registrations, 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of class will be canceled. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled, and the registration fee will be refunded.
