Quilting Techniques: Stars Part 1

The Sawtooth Stars class is the first in a series of quilting technique classes designed to improve your quilting and build confidence.
The Sawtooth Stars is a very common and traditional quilt block that appears in an abundance of quilt patterns. In this class we'll teach you how to create the Sawtooth Star using Flying Geese blocks. In addition, you'll learn the flip-and-stitch technique, used to create Flying Geese, and numerous other quilt blocks. We'll also provide you with techniques to help you avoid chopped points, uneven sides, and improve block consistency.
What You Will Learn
- Creating Flying Geese blocks
- One-at-a time using the Flip-and-Stitch method
- 4-at-a-time
- Importance of sewing accuracy
- Proper trimming techniques
Supplies Needed
- Fabric to be determined. Watch here for more details
- 1/4" foot or other method for achieving accurate 1/4" seam
- Basic sewing supplies, such as clips, pins, measuring tape, rulers, etc.
Note: You must bring your own sewing machine.
Stop in early to choose your fabrics and get and any other supplies you may need. The Fiber Lab offers a 10% discount on class supplies.
Register early. Classes with fewer than 3 registrations, 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of class will be canceled. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled, and the registration fee will be refunded.
