Fringeship Shawl — Intro to Steeking
Ever wanted to learn how to steek, but are terrified to cut into your project? Then this class is for you. The Fringeship Shawl is an excellent low-stakes introduction to steeking. It is also an easy knit with a unique self-fringing construction that will keep you from getting bored. The shawl can be made in any weight yarn and is an ideal project for gradients, fades, handspun, and stashbusting.
Supplies Needed:
- Fringeship Shawl pattern. You will need to purchase this pattern prior to class. It is available at the shop or via Ravelry.
- Yarn Suggestions:
- Fingering: 400+ yds depending on size
- Sport/DK: 300+ yds depending on size
- Worsted: 200+ yds depending on size
- Circular needle in appropriate size for a loose, drapey fabric in yarn of your choice. For example, a US 4 (3.5mm) if using sport weight yarn.
- 5 Stitch markers and 1 locking stitch marker
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Stop in early to choose your yarn and any other supplies you need. The Fiber Lab offers a 15% discount on class supplies.
Register early. Classes with fewer than 2 registrations, 72 hours (3 days) prior to the start of class will be canceled. Students will be notified if a class is cancelled, and the registration fee will be refunded.
